Did anyone catch Gareth from August River Band playing with Kate B last year? What a match made in heaven. If you like Gareth Mewes`s barefooted fiddle playing, you may also like to see him in Zumpa, our well-loved Italian band with David De Santi, Mewes News a gypsy/folk quartet, in Lizzie Flynn and the runaway trains or Thainoz a world music trio.
Wow so many different genres to be able to showcase an amazing talent.

WAM: Waste Action Maleny are having a fundraiser. Are you free to come along?
This Sat 29 March 1 - 5pm in Witta.
It is an intimate house concert designed just for you: A fund raising and awareness event for Waste Action Maleny "WAM". Come and enjoy an afternoon of music, spoken word and surprise acts. There will be covered seating on the verandah and a grassed area for picnic rugs and camp chairs. Sounds lovely.
Even if you can’t make it to this event, you can reach out and DONATE $$ to this organisation to continue to reduce waste in the local community or get involved to be part of the solution and take Action against excess Waste in Maleny!

NO WASTE WEDNESDAY
Maleny Music Festival is on its way to becoming a festival that produces NO WASTE! We do what we can to reduce waste to landfill.
We choose CHILLI BINS for our waste solutions, but do you know why?
Well, I will tell you, it`s because they have a dirty MRF!! - no that is not a euphemism - It stands for Material Recovery Facility, and it means that the have sorting machinery to sort the contents of their waste bins to salvage the recyclable items HOW GOOD IS THAT?
They are a small local company. I don’t know ANY OTHER BIN COMPANY who does this - please comment below if you know others who do. All other bin companies (that I know of) collect the waste skip bin after an event and take them straight to landfill.
Yay for CHILLI BINS, and what a cool name - so next time you see one of their red bins around the area please share this story and encourage others to use their bins and support this company as well.

Tess is involved in many events, most of them in Nothern NSW and the Gold Coast but she takes some time to come to the Sunshine Coast and get involved in Maleny Music Festival because … well why wouldn’t you? ... It is a great festival. She is a second-generation folkie who is surrounded by music in her life.
We recommend Tess for event management services including event coordination, artist selections, artist liaison and communication, social media and grant application writing. If you are looking for a great team member for your event or festival, Maleny Music Festival suggests you contact Tess.

If you didn’t know, you can provide beds for travelling artists in place of a free ticket to our event.
Billets Clare and Kate were over the moon to have @Felicity Lawless stay with them, they almost didn’t come to the festival they were consumed with hanging out, getting to know their guest, chatting together and listening to her jam and prepare for her performances. What a great experience!
Do you have a spare bedroom that you can provide in 2025? Please let us know.

Maleny & District Horse and Pony Club. provide their horse paddock on the Showground for our event camping. A big thank you to the Club for sharing their space. Without them, we would not have enough camping for all the ticket holders at the event.
Our volunteers have risen from 250 to 350 people over the years and without this additional paddock I don’t know what we would do to accommodate everyone who comes to camp for the weekend. We now fill Aub Cork Oval AND the powered campgrounds AND the dairy sheds AND we have started to use the Pony Club Horse Paddock. Wow we are spreading out. We will continue to remind people on our posters and flyers that camping WILL SELL OUT.
Thank you, Maleny & District Horse and Pony Club. We will continue to leave your grounds in a clean and tidy state when we leave, and we will provide your club with free tickets to come along to the event. A big thank you to you all, for sharing your space and allowing us to use your paddock.

It is NO WASTE WEDNESDAY ... how are you all?
I would like to say a big thank you to all who were involved in helping our event become a festival that creates NO WASTE!!
Did you know that we manually sort all our waste bins to salvage all compost and recycling. All our stallholders are 100% compostable.
🐞This year, we recruited a few members of WAM Waste Action Maleny who helped transport the 10c containers and the compost off site after the festival. Should they have an educational stall next year? I hope so.
🐞Maleny Music Festival was showcased as a sustainable festival with Green Music Australia. AWESOME.
🐞This year the team manually sorted the camping bins, not just the festival precinct. We are on our way to becoming a festival that sends NO WASTE to landfill.
OUTCOMES:
🌱RECYCLING: The MMF No Waste team were able to save 6 cubic metres of waste going to landfill by having a recycling skip at the festival.
🌱CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE: We collected more than 2000 drink bottles /containers giving back money to the festival.
🌱COMPOST: We saved one box trailer of organics from landfill and diverted the compost into the Woodfordia compost pile.
🌱WASTE: Last year we sent only 3 bins of waste to landfill. This year we sorted the 20 camping bins as well (which included waste from prior to the festival). We sent 10 wheelie bins of waste to landfill. (3 festival bins and 7 camping bins)

It is NO WASTE WEDNESDAY ... how are you all?
I would like to say a big thank you to all who were involved in helping our event become a festival that creates NO WASTE!!
Did you know that we manually sort all our waste bins to salvage all compost and recycling. All our stallholders are 100% compostable.
🐞This year, we recruited a few members of WAM Waste Action Maleny who helped transport the 10c containers and the compost off site after the festival. Should they have an educational stall next year? I hope so.
🐞Maleny Music Festival was showcased as a sustainable festival with Green Music Australia. AWESOME.

The bar area was a great place to chill out and have a drink with friends, a place to soak up the atmosphere, to sit back and relax and have a yarn. AND this awesome piece of art as the centre piece, I can’t believe how great this looks!
Rob hand painted the stage banners, AND he painted the artwork on this beautiful bar! WOW check it out. This bright colourful bar is a new addition to the festival this year. What do you think?

Who loved the decorations this year?
Did you notice a theme? There were Flowers and Plants everywhere! Potted plants, Floral lanterns, Vines around the poles and more! Everywhere you looked it was beautiful.
What was your favourite? The shimmery Platypus stage? Or The Pirate themed Hub? I especially liked the rainbow of colourful material hanging from the ceiling of the Tibrogargan stage. What a standout feature! And of course, the bunting and hay bales are a must for any festival don’t you think?
I big shoutout to Sam this year for leading the decorations team and setting up a beautiful festival. Sam is looking for someone to help out next year. Do you have a flare for design, or just love getting involved in the set-up of the festival?
