Recycling Composting And Sustainability
Did you know…
Maleny Music Festival is on the way to becoming a NO WASTE FESTIVAL
We collect our 10c containers, salvage all recycling and our stallholders use 100% compostable packaging.
This means NO WASTE TO LANDFILL.
We provide 240L bins in sets around the festival so there is always a set of waste-recycling-and compost bins side by side. When bins are placed separately, this leads to contamination. We make composting and recycling easy for all. The bins are colour coded and signed for easy identification. We have a dedicated team who sort and check all the bins so the compost, recycling and waste end up in the correct end location.
THE BYO BOTTLE PLEDGE:
We avoid the use of single-use items. We use reusable drinking cups at the bars. We encourage you to bring a reusable coffee cup to the event. We provide a free water refill station at the event instead of selling bottled water.
The BYOBottle Campaign engages artists, venues, festivals and fans to reduce plastic waste in the music industry by promoting reusable water bottles and water refill stations at music events.
Make the commitment to BYOBottle and join the campaign at www.BYOBottle.org. Together we can show that the music industry is committed to reducing plastic pollution!
This year we are asking the artists and performers to take the #BYOBottle pledge. Please join in and bring your own refillable bottle to the event to reduce single use plastic bottles.
WE ARE 100% COMPOSTABLE
EVERYTHING YOU EAT… GOES IN THE COMPOST
All stallholders will be bringing compostable serve ware, rather than a mix of compostable and recyclable so it is nice and easy at our event:
“Everything from the food stalls can go in the compost bin”.
Paper napkins, Cardboard trays, Paper straws, Biodegradable bioplastics made from plant products.
Plastic type 7 Bamboo cutlery and trays.
Al food: meat bread cheese fruit vegies hot chips the lot!
“Everything from the food stalls can go in the compost bin”.
As a visitor to the event, please put all your food items: cups, plates, forks and food in the COMPOST BIN.
And help us to become a festival that creates NO WASTE
Happy composting
